6 Months Already!?

Where did the time go?? How can our sweet pea be 6 months old already? I know it's so cliche, but soooo true - the time has flown by! Here are big moments from Caleb's sixth month:
  • Caleb's coordination has skyrocketed this past month. He can sit up on his own and grab toys, switching toys from one to the other. He is also consistently putting his passy back in his mouth.
  • After a few weeks off, we reintroduced solids with much success. Whereas the food use to go in his mouth and come right back out, he now swallows by the spoonful.
  • After watching Caleb on the video monitor repeatedly hit his head on the sides of the crib, we moved the mattress down so that we could put bumper pads in. He looks so little way down in the crib like that! I'm quickly reminded though just how big he is every time I bend down to lift his 20 lb. bod... we love our little chunky monkey
  • We went to the doctor last week for Caleb's 6th month check up and shots (we both absoluately hate that part) and learned that he's holding it steady in the 90's:
    • Weight - 20 lbs. 8 oz (90%)
    • Height - 28 1/2 in. (99%)
    • Head Circ. - 18in. (99%)
Almost too big for his blue blanket

He was much more interested in eating the owl on his shirt than smiling at the camera
After we prop him up, he can stay on his hands and knees for a few seconds - just long enough to snap a pic

Sunday Best & Football

I cannot get enough of Caleb's Sunday-best outfit today! He looks like such a little man (and yes, these are 9 month clothes that he may fit into for another month or so)...

"Can we please be done taking photos now?"

And today also marks a monumental first in the March household... Caleb's first Vikings game (and Packers game, but we don't really talk about that here). Never mind that he slept through the first 3 quarters and was more interested in the remote than the actual game... it was still fun for Tim to watch football with his son. And thankfully, the Vikes pulled it out in the end for the big W.

Sunday Football!
Caleb kept chewing on the remote...
... and changing the channel :)

New Tricks & Treats

After a busy summer of traveling (and I thought life might slow down after a baby... rookie mom mistake), we're excited to head into the best season of them all and establish some semblance of a routine. Up to this point, our "spirited" (just a nicer word for stubborn, really) little man refuses to do the same thing two days in a row. Just when I think we've finally seen the last of the cat naps, they're back and as awesome as ever. And what was I ever thinking when I waved eating issues and interrupted nights of sleep good bye?

If other moms are reading this, I know I'm preaching to the choir... he's just a baby after all and many babies are just as unpredictable. And so we'll continue to welcome each new surprise with open (and tired) arms and love Caleb just the way he is. Plus, each not-so-fun surprise is equally matched and often beaten by an awesomer (yes, I know that is not a real word, but it works) surprise. Like the moment when he found his passy in his crib and put it back in his mouth... all by himself! Or when he is able to sit up straight, spot the very toy he wants and grab it. And then there is the eating solids... we've learned he loves pears and bananas and is less than thrilled by rice cereal and avocados.

Another newer development is our more frequent appearances at the Sport Center (our gym) where they offer 2 hours of day care everyday for a very small additional charge to our monthly bill. It.is.spectacular! I can actually get a run and lift in and even shower and do my hair and make up (yes, actually do something with my hair and face), while Caleb plays and eats. And while I'm on a health  tangent, let me share my new favorite blog - Iowa Girl Eats - which is full of great recipes and workout routines... perfect for a mom (or non-mom) trying to get back in shape.

And finally, enough talking... here is what you most likely came to the blog to see:

"You are hil-arious mom!"
Baby overalls - perhaps the cutest discovery of all time
Loving his Sophie
Uh-oh... he seems to enjoy this crazy sport a little too much
And a musician - he's well-rounded already!
