Welcome to the March Family Blog!

I've been meaning to start this blog since we first came home with Caleb nearly 4 weeks ago (skip to the next post for the details), and while the main delay has certainly been that our lives have been turned upside down, I'll admit I've also been a bit intimated to start a blog. After all, there are already SO many blogs out there - many of which are updated daily, hourly and even by the minute with interesting, funny and useful information. Being the perfectionist I am, I thought, "how can the March Family Blog possibly live up to these standards?" I finally realized that it does not have to! This blog is simply the avenue through which our friends and family can stay updated on our lives (especially our little Caleb) and that no one is expecting our blog to win the Pulitzer Prize. And so, with that thought in mind, please enjoy our blog and cut us some slack when our grammar is less then perfect, words are mispelled or we go a few weeks (and maybe even months) without a new post... after all, we'll just blame it on the sleep deprivation.

The Name Explained

Introducing our NEW NAME (10/20/12): You may notice that the name of our blog has changed. You see, I've been trying to come up with a more snazzy name for our blog for quite some time, and it was actually Tim who came up with "Marching to a New Beat". I must say though that it's exactly what I was going for and for several reasons. Most obviously, it includes our last name (duh). Secondly (and more importantly), it reflects the newness of the stage we're in as parents and as a family. Everything we are going through right now is brand spankin' new. From giving birth, to changing diapers, to baby proofing our home, we really have no idea what we're doing since we've never done anything like it before... it's all SO new. That's not all though. There's yet another layer to this little onion of a name... I recently joined a weekly bible study called Bible Study Fellowship and we are going through Genesis. Additionally, our small group is reading a book called Forgotten God (by Francis Chan). In both of these studies, I have been repeatedly struck by how we shed our old sinful selves and take on a new being through Christ's death and ressurection. Our lives should reflect this newness, and while we often fail in this endeavor, we are called to march on (with God's help, of course).

And so there you have it... Marching to a New Beat. That's what we're doing everyday, and as often as I have time and relevant content, we'll share this newness with you and hope you enjoy each moment with us.
