JD at Six Months (and 48 days)

Happy Six Months Jonathan!

And by six months, I mean six months and 48 days. And by that I mean I completely missed the six month mark… and the seven month mark. So here we are at seven and a half months! I blame the weather. Now that it's finally nice again, who wants to use those precious nap minutes in the basement when there is sun to be soaked?

The sun can wait though, because our little squish isn't so little anymore!  Here's what the Jaybird has been up to lately:
  • Started sitting on his own around 5 1/2 months.
  • Started solids at 5 1/2 months (after a failed attempt at five months). He seems way more interested in "real" food now and doesn't seem to care too much for nursing. I was planning on continuing to nurse for a few more months, but JD may have other plans.
  • Started standing and pulling himself up at seven months
  • Started the army crawl right before the seven month mark and has since learned to legitimately crawl. Who needs the gym when you have a busy toddler and a mobile baby?
  • After a couple nights of what seemed like a millennium of crying (really just one hour one night and 45 minutes the next), Jonathan is now fully sleeping through the night - down by 7:00, up around 6:30 (hallelujah!)
  • Jonathan's overall demeanor is awesome. His default is content, unless he's tired or hungry (he comes by that honestly). He's not a super smily/giggly/babbling happy like Caleb was though. He's a bit more serious and contemplative. Maybe that comes from watching his very amusing brother all day and wondering "what in the world is that goofy kid doing now?"
  • Last time I wrote that Jonathan's supposed milk sensitivity had seemed to worsen. Well now it seems to have vastly improved. I reintroduced dairy for the fourth time three weeks ago and there was no reaction, which leaves me wondering if it was ever real to begin with?? At the very least it did help to drop the baby weight. But now I'm in trouble as it seems I've decided to make up for five months of no-dairy by eating unlimited amounts of everything that was previously off limits.
Here's the pic update:

In May I had my annual college roomies reunion. This is one of my favorite weekends of the year! This year only the babies were invited to join. Even then, there were five babies… and the two ladies without babies in arms are both expecting! There are now 12 kiddos among the seven of us and two more on the way!

Jonathan may only be 7 weeks older than Annie, but he looks twice as big

Asher had something to say about it

At my cousin's wedding over Memorial Day weekend. Does it get any cuter than babies/toddlers in ties?
Speaking of Memorial Day, Tim and I celebrated out 5th Anniversary on May 24th. We spent a wonderful weekend in Galena, IL while my parents watched the boys. Dinner out twice… round of golf… in bed by 9:00… naps in the afternoon - I'd say we took full advantage. It's only fitting that we didn't take any pictures the whole weekend (it seems we forget that these phones can take photos of things other than the kids).

Tim's sister and brother-in-law came to visit in June with their girls. We loved catching up and watching Caleb follow Allie's every step.

The sprinkler may have been the best part of the weekend!

Caleb getting a little love  tap from JD

We attempted our first bike ride with the trailer. We made it to the park, but just barely.
It seems JD is still too little given that he could barely hold up his head with the helmet on.

My parents, sister-in-law and niece were in town a couple weeks ago. Nori is getting so big!

We are LOVING these summer days:

My friend Hope was in town last week so Lisa and I drove into the city to meet up with Hope and Blake at the Lincoln Park Zoo:

The past two days have been less than glamorous (took a toddler forehead to the nose, Caleb crawled into JD's crib half way through his nap, Jonathan is now a danger to himself as he thinks he can do more than he can, Caleb has flipped over the handlebars of his scooter twice, I sliced my toenail in half trying to save Caleb after the aforementioned scooter incident), but even still, the joys of parenthood far outweigh the temporary physical and emotional challenges. How could it not with these two in the picture?
